2014 Cartagena

Post-extension of a January 2014 passage through the Panama Canal, this involved a very rough night passage across the Caribbean. Note the missing paint from the ship's bow. After recovering, all of us were impressed with Cartagena with its rich history and cultural blending.

  • January 12 - Dennis, Elen, and Ivan leaving the ship at Cartagena Columbia.  Note the missing paint on the ship's bow from the rough passage from Panama.
  • Cartagena Columbia - Castillo San Felipe De Barajas.  The fortress was begun in 1536. It was significantly expanded in 1657. It was built in a triangular shape on top of the hill.  Its name was given in honour of Philip IV of Spain.
