2017 Great Lakes Tour Highlights

Late August found us going on a Great Lakes tour with the Flying Longhorns. After visiting friends in Wisconsin, we took a train to Chicago where we stayed at the Palmer House the night before the tour. Weather was great except for the visit of Harvey back in Rockport. The ship was small as cruise ships go and the crew/wait staff were a highlight. My one take-away from the trip was the similarity in magnitude between the Great Lakes and my native Gulf of Mexico. Their breadth and unpredictable nature are undeniable and inspiring.

Chicago tour, Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park

from wikipedia: Jay Pritzker Pavilion, also known as Pritzker Pavilion or Pritzker Music Pavilion, is a bandshell in Millennium Park in the Loop community area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the south side of Randolph Street and east of the Chicago Landmark Historic Michigan Boulevard District. The pavilion was named after Jay Pritzker, whose family is known for owning Hyatt Hotels. The building was designed by architect Frank Gehry, who accepted the design commission in April 1999; the pavilion was constructed between June 1999 and July 2004, opening officially on July 16, 2004.
